Hi pastor Fisk, would the nr 12 then ultimately represent Jesus the Emmanuel? 4 and 3 entwined together. Which would mean: God's reigning Israel is the leading ramp toward the Christ, who unites God and creation in a single person (1). After ascension, a 12-apostles opening counter-vortex leads to the present Reign of the Christ, the Church His body, through which God still saves the entire creation. No itermediary numbers between 1 and 12, because 4 gets to 3/1 through 12.
And is then 6 man alone, forsaking 4 and 3? The number me-me-me?
@16zaczuberbier : The wonderful thing is that we are free to disagree about that. I have made my case for why I think the text is to be reconciled with with Isaiah and John, and I will stand by it. The Hebrew at that point is quite phenomenally awkward. I am certain he knows it better than I do, but I am also certain that Hebrew poetry is quite waxen, and serves the purpose of the poet, as Scripture interprets Scripture. Cheers!
Pastor Fisk, concerning your commentary on Ezekiel 1:5 about the 4 living creatures, my friend and I asked one of our Hebrew professors and he said that the text is to be understood as the Bible has been translated. That is the Angels had 4 faces and four wings. From the way he translated it from the Hebrew text it sounded like a dative of possession in Greek.
